The Latest Fashion Trends: Current Trends I've Been Loving in 2021
December 10, 2021

Statement Colors
Neutral colors were the thing for a while. While everyone loves a good brown or beige shade, a pop of color seems to be making the biggest difference this year. Bold statement colors are a trend that started out strong in the spring and summer, but is continuing throughout the following seasons. This summer, I paired a bright pink neon boot with a satin dress. Lately I've been into monochromatic outfits with a bold colored accessory, like my knit green hat finishing off the all black winter look. Adding in a pop of color to an outfit is a great way to take an everyday staple outfit and make it a bit more fun and fresh.

Wide Leg Denim
Everyone remembers the era of the skinny jean or "jegging". The idea of taking pants that look identical to an authentic denim, and making them comfortable and stretchy enough to run a marathon in. After all, it wasn't that long ago. From the skinny jean, we shifted into the mom jean or the straight leg. In 2021, the wide leg denim has really taken over the game. It may seem like they are a bit out dated. However, loose fitting apparel and relaxed tailoring inspired by previous decades is truly the style now, putting the "out dated" feeling right on the money. A good pair of denim is an extremely versatile item to have in your closet. They can be dressed up or down for virtually any occasion and also comes in countless colors and patterns. Below are some examples of wide leg denim outfitted in both casual and more dressed-up looks.

Fun Jackets
When it comes to winter in the Midwest, wearing a jacket outside is not an option. No matter how casual you may be dressed, throw a fun statement coat on- and boom! You're suddenly the definition of rocking fashion in winter. The fun part about jackets is the endless styles they come in- long and short, puffer jackets and leather, feather trimmed and sherpa lined. One of my personal favorites is the long leather trench coat over a neutral tracksuit (first image on the left). I also adore the vintage NASCAR face jackets that have recently become very popular. You can never go wrong with a matching jacket and accessory combo to keep it classy and coordinated, like the cream combination in the photo on the far right.
